In her book, Better Than Before, Gretchen Rubin explores how to attain greater happiness by adjusting and improving her habits. In this video, she explains how we fall out of our good habits by making excuses for ourselves based on false assumptions. For instance, one might assume that if they did not eat a healthy breakfast, they have to start with their healthy eating tomorrow instead. Gretchen explains that these false assumptions (I have to start my diet with breakfast or else I’ve ruined the day) get in the way of living a healthy lifestyle, as our habits don’t have to be perfect, and it’s never too late to get back on track.
