Google employee Jeremiah Dillon fulfilled all the (positive) stereotypes of a Googler last week when he sent an email to his coworkers explaining his time management strategy. His philosophy reimagines the structure of a work day, encouraging people to break their day into large chunks of time (pre- and post-lunch, or 3-4 hour periods) instead of the more typical 30 minute increments. In careers that ask for even a little bit of creativity, Dillon explains, it’s important to treat your day as if you are a “maker,” carving out crucial time for uninterrupted brainstorming, execution, and revision. Inspired by the email, a coworker created a memorable video representing Dillon’s ideas (included above). The productivity and planning tips are useful for anyone — not just employees of the “World’s Best Employer.”
